Rebranding in convenience

Onvo was previously known as Liberty Travel Plazas. The company launched its new name and rebrand in 2019. The change was driven by the company’s commitment to providing customers with a friendly and memorable experience.

As reported by Convenience store newsthe new identity and branding included several elements: a new name and logo, a completely redesigned website, an updated loyalty program, an updated store design, and a new mascot named Onvo.

“While our old identity has served us well over the past 30 years, it was time for us to update our brand into something that reflects our commitment to delivering experiences that leave our customers happy and thriving. I truly believe that we did with Onvo,” said Aulakh, Onvo’s business development manager, at the time.

It followed the change with a new loyalty program, which was implemented in December 2021.

Designed in collaboration with Paytronix, the program was launched alongside a new Onvo mobile app, available on Apple and Android devices.

Onvo Rewards members can earn points, known as Hoots, for every in-store purchase they make. Boos can then be redeemed for rewards such as free food, drinks, snacks, or fuel discounts.

‘Onvo Rewards is an exciting new chapter for our business. The decision to launch a new loyalty program came from the desire to reward our most loyal customers with additional benefits, while providing them with an easy way to interface with their rewards,” said Harman Aulakh, Chief Marketing Officer of ‘Onvo, about the deployment. “Onvo Rewards and the new Onvo app really offer customers an intuitive and fun way to interact with their rewards program and the brand as a whole.”

Additional program benefits include referral rewards, birthday and anniversary rewards, and a buy-five-get-one-free club program for coffee, roller grill items, and beverages in a fountain.

Founded in 1988 in northeast Pennsylvania, Onvo has grown into a network of more than 50 businesses, including 38 travel centers, 23 quick-service and full-service restaurants, and six hotels located across the northeast and central Pennsylvania and upstate New York.

Onvo, based in Scranton, employs more than 1,000 team members across the region in a variety of hospitality, customer service and petroleum distribution roles.
