Google has “bad news” for these Android app developers

If you are an android application developer with apps listed on Google play store that haven’t been updated in a while, then the internet search giant has bad news for you.
The company has announced that it will close dormant accounts if the account is inactive or abandoned after one year. “This includes accounts where the developer has never downloaded an app or accessed Google Play Console in a year, ”Google said.
The company has clarified that it will not close accounts with apps that have had more than 1,000 installs or in-app purchases in the past 90 days.
This new policy will come into effect on September 1, 2021. Google believes that “Play remains a more secure ecosystem when developers actively maintain their applications.”
What happens if your developer account is closed
In the event that your developer account is closed, you will need to create a new one, but the company will not allow you to reactivate old accounts, apps, or data.
What else is changing on Google Play Store
Apart from that, Google also makes it easy to opt out of personalized ads. When a user deletes the Android Advertising ID on a newer device, the Advertising ID will be removed and replaced with a string of zeros. This will come into force from October 4, 2021.
The Play Store is also updating its “Inappropriate Content Policy” with the aim of enforcing new restrictions on “sexual content, specifically prohibiting paid sex (i.e. dating with sugar). . This would come into force on September 1, 2021.
Google is also adding new restrictions in its “Family Policy Requirements” on IDs used in apps that target children.
“If an app is primarily aimed at children, it can’t pass identifiers like an advertising ID. If an app’s audience is both children and adults, then it should avoid passing these identifiers to children, ”Google said. Developers must comply by September 1, 2021, except for changes to the Ad ID. For Ad ID, developers have until January 15, 2022 to comply.
