iMessage shouldn’t benefit from bullying. Texting should bring us closer, and the solution is there. Let’s settle this as one industry. 💚💙 https://t.co/18k8RNGQw4

Other Google executives also shared Lockheimer’s tweet. The official Android account on Twitter also re-tweeted his message with a direct jab on iMessages. The tweet read: “iMessage shouldn’t benefit from bullying. Texting should bring us closer together, and the solution exists. Let’s fix this as one industry.
What is RCS?
Rich communication services are like the next step in the evolution of SMS. Since even before the advent of smartphones, SMS has been the default messaging service. The introduction of RCS is long overdue and plans to bring some WhatsApp-like features to SMS including typing indicators, chat bubbles, read receipts and also the ability to send high quality images. Usually courier service will be much faster.
If Apple decides to open up to the new RCS standard, iMessage will not have the exclusivity of these features. The rebuke from top Google executives indicates the search giant is fed up with Apple’s iMessage policy.
